It was a typical hot and muggy day in the Mid Atlantic....the kind that makes you want to stay put! Mike and I started out our trek to RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. about 4 in the afternoon to get there in time. The show began at 7 in the evening to see these two LEGENDS perform on stage. This concert was important to me! I came home from work and began calling for tickets and was on the phone for 4 hours, only to end up in the nosebleed section Being late was not an option to be considered though, after four hours of calling! We arrived at RFK and bought t-shirts and went to find our seats! When we got to our seats, we met some wonderful Billy Joel fans from Virginia, who loaned us their binoculars during the course of the evening. (Thanks again guys!!!) The stage had the pianos arranged face to face. When the two stars came out, they shook hands while both countries anthems were played. The two got right down to business, playing their hearts and souls out in the terrible heat. Billy Joel even remarked during the evening about the heat and the crowd roared! Elton was not as talkative as Billy, but his wowing of the audience made up for it!! Both of them playing together was definately one of the highlights of the evening! It was electrifying to hear both of them play together!!! The concert ended at 11 PM and we were until 3AM trying to get back to Maryland!! When we got home, both Mike and I were so keyed up that we didn't get to sleep for quite a while! The next day, when we finally got up, I had no voice, a sure sign a good time was had by someone!!! I loved this tour so much, I cancelled a camping trip(my second love!) in 98 to stay home and watch "Face To Face" on HBO...only to find out it was cancelled due to Billy Joel's voice problems. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! To this day, I'd say this is one of the best concerts that I have EVER been to! Elton and Billy ROCKED Washington!
